Birthdays, Celebrations, Birthdays

This was the week of birthdays. Glen had his BIG birthday. I won't mention how old he is, but you can probably figure it out since is a BIG birthday and he is two years older than me. :) It was a good day. I made him the requested ice cream sandwich cake, which we all loved. It was fun celebrating Pioneer day too. We had a BBQ with Glen's family the day before. On Pioneer day, Jaron and I went down to the parade while Glen and Noah stayed home to hang out together. Jaron and I found our neighbors at the parade and sat next to them. It was a pretty good parade. They gave out lots of candy and Jaron thought that was cool. Toward the end he would even get up to get the candy. There is a fast learning curve when candy is involved apparently. That afternoon I went to the community production of Oklahoma with my mother-in-law. It turned out to be pretty good. They had some good vocal talents in it.

The next big event was Jaron's birthday. I am now the mother of an official 2 year old. I say official because Glen has been considering him two for the last four or five months. :) We love our son so much. He has such personality, which is usually a good thing. Lately he will ask things in a question and then we will usually confirm what he is saying, then he will say the exact words in a statement followed by OK and maybe the excited dance. In the morning when Jaron came downstairs he said, "Presents me?" I said "You want to open a present?" He said "Presents me, OK." He also has been doing this really cool excited dance. When he gets excited he will do a little dance. It totally cracks me up. Actually this last week I have been keeping notes of all the fun things that Jaron does and what he likes to do as he embarks on his second year of life. Here it goes:

  • First thing in the morning he will knock on the door. When some one opens it he will say, "Wake up. Sleep good." He use to say "trick or treat" for the longest time after Halloween, this last month he has stopped doing that.
  • After he professes that he slept good he names everyone off that he can't see. So if I get him from his room he says, "daddy? Noah?"
  • He loves to hide and say "where'd Jaron go?" "Can't see him." Then when he reveals himself he says "There he is!"
  • He loves to pretend that there are dinosaurs or other animals in the room. He will come running in and say/scream "Dinosaur comin" "getch you" or "get me"
  • He loves to play and laugh. He has an infectious smile and laugh.
  • When he "hurts" himself he says "hurt me, hurt me" and then he says "kiss it better?" When I kiss it better it as if the hurt never happened. This is done for all ranges of hurts.
  • He also says "Love you too, bub", "Thank you, bub", "Coowaul"
  • He loves his little brother. He likes to hold him, kiss him, and give him hugs. The other day Noah was making sad noises and Jaron went over to him and shared his blanket with Noah and said to Noah, "feel better now?"
  • He loves to identify when he and other people are crying, tired, sleepy, happy, smiling, etc... He also loves to identify body parts, different kinds of cars/trucks, animals, etc . . .
  • Jaron loves music!! He especially loves folk, band, and classical music. He also loves this spanish Kabah cd Glen has. He loves the "na na song". He also loves to get out Doo Doos (whisks/cooking utensils) to add to the excitement
  • He is starting to add me, my, and mine to a lot of words/phrases he says.
  • Jaron gets excited when he can do something. He will raise his hands above his head and say "I did it"
  • He also says "Bless you " after every sneeze and cough

So here is a little random trivia. Jaron was born eight days after Glen's birthday and Noah was born eight days before my birthday. Weird!!
